Tool Makers — We’ve Got Shops That Know Quality

Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, and adjust a variety of machine tools (lathes, milling machines, grinders) to fabricate, modify, or repair precision parts and tools.
• Interpret blueprints, CAD designs, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine project requirements.
• Select appropriate materials, tooling, and machining processes for each job.
• Perform precise measurements and inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other instruments to ensure part accuracy.
• Fit and assemble parts to create or repair cutting tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and molds.
• Troubleshoot and correct machining problems or tool malfunctions as they arise.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs to keep equipment in good working condition.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, production supervisors, and quality teams to meet deadlines and specifications.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area, adhering to 5S and lean manufacturing practices.
• Follow all safety, quality, and production standards while consistently producing high-quality work.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in machining or tool and die making preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in a tool maker, machinist, or precision manufacturing role.
• Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and machine setup.
• Skilled in using manual machine tools and CNC machinery; experience with EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) a plus.
• Ability to perform precise measurements and quality checks independently.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Comfortable lifting heavy materials and standing for long periods.
• Solid math skills and basic computer proficiency for production tracking and machine programming.
• Willingness to work overtime or flexible shifts based on production needs.
