Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year or more of medical billing and coding experience required.
  • Coding certification preferred.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and modifiers is helpful.
  • Medical billing or coding certification, such as CPC, is a plus

Job Duties: 

  • Submit medical and dental claims to Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and patient accounts.
  • Check denied or rejected claims, correct errors, and resend for payment.
  • Keep patient billing and account details up to date in the system.
  • Record all payments, insurance checks, and reimbursements.
  • Talk with payers and patients to clear up questions, verify info, and follow up on unpaid claims.
  • Apply billing changes such as sliding scale adjustments.
  • Handle patient billing questions with professionalism and care.
  • Prepare financial paperwork for approved release.
