Responsibilities:

  • Set up, adjust, and operate manual and CNC machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and job orders to determine machining operations.
  • Select proper tooling, fixtures, and machine settings based on material and job specifications.
  • Inspect parts throughout production using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Maintain tight tolerances and quality standards while meeting production timelines.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues as needed to minimize downtime.
  • Record production data accurately, including work completed and materials used.
  • Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and quality teams to resolve production or quality concerns.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper PPE usage and safe machine operation.
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and in line with lean manufacturing or 5S practices.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school training or machining certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of machinist experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Skilled in blueprint reading, shop math, and use of precision measurement tools.
  • Experience with manual machines, CNC mills, lathes, or similar equipment (brands like Haas, Mazak, Okuma a plus).
  • Understanding of different metals, materials, speeds, feeds, and machining best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and solid troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic computer literacy for machine operation and production documentation.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for long periods.
  • Flexible to work overtime or multiple shifts based on production needs.
  • Reliable, safety-conscious, and committed to continuous improvement.
